Every Republican member of Alabama's Congressional delegation voted NO yesterday on HR 5816, a bill to extend unemployment benefits.  Congressman Bobby Bright (D?) voted NO along with his Republican colleagues and only Congressman Artur Davis (D) voted with the bipartisan majority in the House to pass the bill.

The vote was 270 to 153, with 141 Republicans and 11 Democrats voting no.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) shows Alabama's state unemployment rate at almost 11% as of May, 2010 so I wonder what these guys were thinking?

We're used to Parker Griffith making an ass of himself.  Same with Aderholt, Bonner, & company. With Mike Rogers, well, what a difference a few months makes.  He voted for an extension on 4/15/2010.

And then there's Bobby Bright.  I wonder how the vote will play in his district?  Was it a smart move to shore up his "conservative" Democratic credentials or will it backfire by reducing the enthusiasm of the Democratic voters he needs to turn out?
